Cunningham Radio Tube Co.

d/b/a Audiotron Mfg Co.

There are several good places to find examples of radio tube boxes on the internet, but none offered enough details for me.

My goal is to document all of the variations, in sequence, with studio quality isometric photographs. A careful study shows that some boxes included date codes printed on them. It's unclear if the date codes were specified by the customer of the box company (Cunningham) or if the codes were part of the control process of the box factory (Ohio Box Board Co).

Further study is planned and I have some good box co info that will follow.

Early date codes

Every Ohio Box Board Company example I have seen includes a number under the company logo, printed on one of the box's four folding side flaps. In the picture on the left, 422 is the date code and indicates it was made in April 1922

This corresponds to the correct period we would expect and aids us in knowing that this box contained a tube variant made before this date.

As far as I know, I am the first to document this evidence, but if anyone has references I missed, holler.

I would love to know if you have a box with different date codes. Is there a 1220? Were any printed in 123?
