Brand(s): Gold Seal, Diana, Lord Baltimore

In many cases when researching tube companies, a shell company hides the real manufacturer, or in some cases, distributor. In the case of Gould Storage Battery Co. we assume first that Gould is the true parent company, since it precedes other pseudonyms.

James W. Duff d/b/a Gold Seal Products Co. registers their trademark 15-Sep-1925, claiming use since 1-Apr-1925

It was no secret that that Gould was producing 'Gold Seal' tubes from the time of the great tube 'wave' in early 1925. But what has not, until now, been deduced is that they were also producing 'Diana' branded tubes. Diana is a later brand, but coincides with Gold Seal advertising in that they both reference the same address in New York City.

No evidence has been found that contradicts this theory.

Diana Radio Tube Corp. registers the 'Lord Baltimore' trademark 10-Jan-1928, claiming use since 01-Oct-1927.

Gold Seal variants:

There are lots of Gold Seal variants to document. Until I get them listed, use the advertising which gives good details.

There are a lot of Gold Seal advertisements. I will try and only include significant ones where new details are disclosed.

Diana variants:

Under the guise of Diana, there were several variations produced, and the brand proved briefly popular. Later in 1928, using the Diana name, they registered and produced Lord Baltimore tubes.

There are at least two variants of Diana 201A tubes. The earliest variants can be identified by the 'leads all' labels using the archer logo.

Lord Baltimore variants:

Starting early 1928, Lord Baltimore tubes were produced.
